Organizó la primera asociación de discapacitados visuales de Valdivia (ASDIVAL) cuando residió en la sureña ciudad. Desarrolló una intensa labor a favor de las personas discapacitadas, creando el programa radial Abriendo Caminos. En Santiago, y mientras laboraba en la Dirección del Trabajo, donde aún se desempeña, participó en la ANEF, ocupando el cargo de Presidente de la Comisión de la Discapacidad de esa organización que agrupa a los funcionarios públicos de nuestro país. Posteriormente, dejó ese cargo para dedicarle mayor tiempo a su vocación por las letras. En el año 91, obtuvo mención honrosa en el Concurso Argentina-Chile de Poesía, en homenaje a Pablo Neruda. El 99, ganó el primer lugar en el concurso de cuentos Atrévete, organizado por la editorial Los Andes. El 2006, publicó el volumen de cuentos Gratitud de las moscas. Entre los años 2007 y 2008, fue finalista en diversos concursos de cuento realizados en Argentina y España. En el 2009, obtuvo el segundo lugar en el concurso de cuentos de la revista Grifo, de la Facultad de Letras de la universidad Diego Portales. El 2011, con el libro Relatos en cuatro tiempos, obtuvo el segundo lugar en los XXV Premios Tiflos de Literatura, realizado en España.
